Who are we?

The idea for Feed A Friend came about as we (Jos and Cath) both have elderly grandparents who live too far away for us to visit frequently. This got us thinking about our local community in Reading/Caversham; surely there are people like our grandparents who would love a regular visitor to pop in for a chat, a cuppa and possibly even a slice of cake!  Equally, we figured they there must be people like us (who perhaps live far away from their own relatives) who’d like to volunteer to visit someone locally, perhaps bringing with them a leftover portion of a meal, or a slice of cake.

We sought advice from various sources (the local council, friends, Reading Voluntary action, individuals who work with lunch groups in the local area and, not least, potential diners themselves) and Feed a Friend started to take shape.
Our aim is to provide a service which introduces people to one another within our local area. We hope that individuals, who would probably never have had chance to meet otherwise, will enjoy chats, cups of tea and perhaps a meal or a snack as they get to know each other.
If you would like any more information, if you would like to volunteer, or if you know someone who might benefit from a visit from a Feed a Friend volunteer, please get in touch.
We look forward to hearing from you!
